What Type of permit do I need?
A) Off Premise Alcohol Sales Training/ EASY-Eliminate Alcohol Sales to Youth
The E.A.S.Y. Law requires mandatory training for each store employee that sells beer or directly supervises the sale of beer. Training is required within 30 days of hire and at least every 5 years thereafter.
B) On Premise Beverage Server Training
UTAH law requires every person who serves alcohol in a restaurant, club, bar or tavern, to complete an alcohol training and education training within 30 days of employment and at least every 3 years thereafter.

How long is my UTAH Alcohol Certificate good for?
On-Premise is valid for 3 years, Off-Premise is valid for 5. Both can be renewed by logging into your account and completing the program from the beginning.

Who is required to get an On-Premise UTAH Alcohol Server Certification?
Every individual employed to sell or furnish alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises, and those who manage or supervise the service of alcoholic beverages must complete and pass an approved On-Premise Alcohol Server Training every three years.

When do I need to have a UTAH Alcohol Certification?
The certification must be earned within 30 days of beginning employment as a server who will sell or furnish alcoholic beverages for consumption.

How long does the eAlcoholServers course take?
The course takes approximately 3 hours to complete. You can start and stop your progress to resume at a later time.

What is required to pass the eAlcoholServers exam?
Once the online course is completed, you can proceed to the final exam. The final exam is 26 questions, with an 80% passing score. You can take the exam 3 times to earn a passing score. After the 3rd attempt, you will need to re-take the online course before taking the exam again. There is no fee for taking the exam multiple times.

Once I pass the final exam, how do I get my UTAH Alcohol Certification?
Once you pass the final exam:
  • Your UTAH Alcohol Server Certificate of course completion is immediately available to Print or Download
  • No Printer – you can request a mail order copy on the Print Options page
  • Your information will be uploaded into the State of UTAH Alcohol Servers database for your employer to view
